Each year there a plethora of new summer fragrances launched but I always come back to the same old favourites. Jo Malone Lime, Basil and Mandarin is one and Clarins Eau Dynamisante is another. I was introduced to it by my mother, who’s worn it for years, and have loved it since I was about 15.
It’s refreshing without being overly zingy, with lemon, white thyme and rosemary essential oils. There is a touch of coriander to give it spice and patchouli for a woody note. I find it comforting, calming, and invigorating at the same time. It doesn’t enter the room first or wear you; it’s subtle enough to not overpower but not so weak that it vanishes in a minute.
It comes in various sizes, but the smallest is still 100ml, meaning that you can spray with abandon. It does a great job scenting hair and clothing too – I always like it when I put a scarf on and it smells of my favourite perfume (Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir is the best for this).
The body lotion is also lovely. It smells very similar to the eau de toilette (which, slightly inexplicably, many accompanying lotions and creams don’t), and has a really light texture, perfect for summer. It isn’t moisturising enough for my poor arid shins, but it’s great on arms and décolletage, especially as it leaves a really pretty sheen on the skin without being at all greasy.
There’s a shower gel, a shower mousse and a deodorant in the range as well – the shower mousse was one of the few products I insisted on carting along on my gap year, which tells you how fabulous it is!
