The Sunset Pink collection from Bobbi Brown is really rather gorgeous. It’s inspired by the colours of the late afternoon sun in Telluride, Colorado, which Bobbi thinks make everyone look radiant and soft-lit – who doesn’t want to look like that all the time? There are three new Highlighting Powders, three Sheer Colour Cheek Tints, four Tube Tints for lips, four new shades of the Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner and, what I was most excited about, four new shades of the Long-Wear Cream Shadow.
New shades of a cream eyeshadow might not seem like the most thrilling release but the little pots from BB are the only cream shadow I’ve ever found that don’t crease without a primer and work with a powder shadow over the top. Essentially they’re the perfect primer/shadow combo, and I love them. I previously only had the colour Slate which is a great everyday shade but not a brilliant tone to put under lighter shadows. Nude Beach, on the other hand, is an ace summer colour.
It doesn’t show up terribly well on my super pale skin but it just evens out my eyelids and adds a touch of shimmer without looking too obvious. It’s described on the Bobbi Brown website as ‘pale nude nectar’ which, translated, seems to mean pale nudey pink semi-shimmer. Easy to whack on with a slick of liner and mascara, or brilliant under paler shadow shades, like the lighter Urban Decay Basics 2 shadows or the palest two in the Tom Ford Nude Dip palette.
All of the new shades in the collection are gorgeous (I had a swatching session in John Lewis the other day) and I’ll definitely be picking up Velvet Plum before they disappear.
